Last night my hubby (and artsy partner) spotted a piece of newsprint that I was going to throw away. I had been spraypainting some of the new Bare Elements books and the surface was covered with gold and silver stenciled shapes of some of the book covers. He snatched it and next thing I know he is set up in the kitchen painting a lovely victorian motif onto it for his art journal page. This is one of the many reasons that I love him so much. (I can't resist a guy who would wear a butterfly shirt either!)
I love the layering of it and that it was a sort of collaboration. Our family loves to art journal. This year has been so busy and I am ashamed to say that we have not sat together to journal since our vacation last spring This is going to be a New Years resolution though.
As artists who love to collage, finding discarded things and making them beautiful brings us lots of *happiness*.
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday, I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone. We spent some time at the park on Christmas day just relaxing and playing volleyball. I was able to play with my *new* camera and I love it! I don't know much about photography but I can see myself getting hooked now that I have the right tool. I guess I can equate it with having the right paint brush. If you have a nice sable paintbrush it makes painting much easier and more enjoyable with better results in the end. Now I need to learn about the camera, look into gettting some other lenses and playing with the different settings. I might actually become a scrapbooker now that I will have some nice photo's to work with. It is funny how I get into these crafts from the back door. I had never rubberstamped until after I designed my first line of stamps and now I have my own line of scrapbook product so I guess it must be time to get into that hobby as well. I am a little kooky and backwards that way:).
Here are some random shots with the new toy. I just used the auto setting and played around with the levels in photoshop. I know I have a lot to learn and if anyone has any suggestions about websites or books that talk about digital photography, please let me know. I could also use suggestions about where to get good prints made and what printers and inks you would suggest using. Any suggestions would be welcome in my comments section. THANK YOU!!!

The fact that your husband is creative is a gift most of us didn't receive:) I would love it if my husband and I could create together! Being in construction, we do create together around the house....painting, tile setting, carpeting etc. I guess that counts too...ha..ha
