Stash it Forward Give Away

Freshflowersminibook

Fresh_flowers_transparencies

4/15**EDITED TO ADD PHOTO'S of the "Crafting Stash". The two top photo's represent the 12x12 acetate transparencies. Just so you know, you won't find these in stores anymore, I designed them around four years ago and I think they fit much more into today's crafting trends:). The third photo is a selection of some of the foil printed papers that will be given away. It is very difficult to photograph the sparkle but I know you creative folks can imagine. I am changing the deadline to 4/20 to give us more time to get names in the hat.Tell your friends and read on to find out more about the giveaway and don't forget to hop over to Emily's blog to see the side bar, there are a few new people signed up to give stuff away.

Today I mentioned to a few friends that I really need to share some of my excess art supplies. Being a product designer, I receive contract samples of my new product and often times I am too busy to do anything with it. I really want to see it being used and not just sitting here gathering dust. I read about a great idea on Emily Falconbridge's blog, she posted a "Stash it Forward" give away on her blog. Her idea was to help and bless those who might have a difficult time affording items for their art/scrapbook making. I love the idea and I want to join in along with a handful of others who are "stashing forward". You can visit her blog to see the links of others that are participating. Sometimes I think things are meant to be and I just stumbled on her blog tonight and it helped me to get rolling with this idea I had to give some stuff away.

Here is how it will work. Emily clarified on her blog that the giveaway was meant to help someone who might not have a budget for art supplies and I would like to honor that as well so if that sounds like you or someone you know then please leave me a comment in my comment box and on Wednesday, April 16th I will draw two names at random to receive a nice selection of specialty scrapbook papers (many printed with foil) and some lovely transparencies (as pictured above). I will get in the studio sometime tomorrow and take a photo of what I am going to give away..Also, because of postage I am going to limit the giveaway to US residents this time. If you know someone deserving let them know or post for them...xo-C

It is time to GIVE STUFF AWAY!

Ab4_2

We have Valentine's day coming up and it is a good reminder to remember to show LOVE to others. I recently went through a passage in 1 Corinthians all about what LOVE is and what LOVE is not. Well, LOVE IS KIND! And I want to kindly give away some goodies to you. Here is what you have to do. Drop a comment in my comment box about something KIND someone has done for you. On Valentines Day I will pick two winners out of a random drawing from your comments and I will give away two packets of some of my newer paper collections. I will get this little contest going by sharing something kind that was done for me recently.

Right before our big CHA show when everyone in our industry, me included,  was crazy busy getting ready for classes and travel I got a phone call from a friend. This friend was ten times busier than me and was teaching classes and doing some big make and takes at the show. My friend calls the day before the events were starting and says that she has an idea for me and says that she is going to cut out 150 little purses out of my teatime paper for me to put candy in and give away during the show. Mind you, she has her own brand to promote and yet she was thinking of me. That really impacted me. I am sad to say that the last thing that I was thinking about  during that busy time was helping someone else out. That was a kind act that will really stick with me and helps me to see how my kindness might impact someone. So when you are really busy and into yourself , take the time and do something kind for someone, it will re-ground you.

I look forward to reading about the acts of kindness.

Another weakness of mine...

Napkin2

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I took the day off today since the children had a holiday and we went and saw the Curious George movie...it was so cute and *LOVE* the soundtrack.  We went to Urban Outfitter to buy some t-shirts and then to my favorite store (Anthropologie)  and I bought this fun cloth napkin. I love the complimentary colors and think I might cut it up and glue it in my journal or I might applique it on some jeans or something...love the gesture of the flowers. One major weakness that  I have is for printed fabrics (textiles was my major in art school and if I see a good print I just can't pass it by.... I have been known to cut up our clothes for collage and art purposes, my children know to watch out when I have the scissors!:) Looking in my sketchbooks  you will see bits and pieces of  our clothes (this little strip of my daughter's dress inspired the colors for the Blush Collection ) Needless-to-say you won't find a full set of cloth napkins at my house since I usually only purchase one and my children are the ones on the playground with strategically cut out patches in their clothes:)

I also bought this pretty aqua and rasberry paisley plate. I think I will hang it in my kitchen or put it in the studio for color inspiration.

Don't forget to post your favorite color combo. The  Fresh Flower's contest  ends tomorrow night. I will announce the two winners on Wednesday morning. So stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!

Happyfamily
This family looks so happy and well taken care of by Mom! I don't think that she is serving peanut butter sandwiches or top ramen to them (hint: that might have been our meal the past few nights, sad I know!) Enjoy your family this weekend, sneak some art in the mix and maybe cook a nice meal! Keep posting your favorite color combo for the contest/product giveaway  below. It has been really interesting to hear about your favorite colors or at least your favorite colors today...
