Everyday Gourmet Collection

Color-inspiration

I had to do a new blog post because my sweet (and sassy) middleschooler was making fun of the picture of me in the below post. My family knows that I don't always like my picture taken so when my husband took the picture of me painting I "cheesed" it up big time for him...so that is the story with that silly photo...

Now on to business:-). I have three collections that are shipping to stores this month and I will be introducing them on the blog through out the next week. This first collection is called "Everyday Gourmet". I always begin the design process with pulling some color reference for inspiration. The colors in this collection were inspired by this old 1950's book cover. I love the style of illustration and the colors I thought were amazing, so that is how I began and you will see below how the collection evolved. There are several 12x12 papers and 2 sheets of cardstock stickers, 2 epoxy sheets, and some metal brads....

Here is the epoxy...

And here are the metal brads....I just LOVE the way these turned out...

I have two more collections to show next week...until then, blessings to you!

The ocean seashore motif is a common theme in so much of my art and reflects my love of the seashore. For most of my life I have lived in walking distance to the beach and my family is full of surfers and beach lovers, it is ingrained in our DNA. Part of the process for creating the collection involved me getting my watercolors out and painting much of the collection "the old fashioned way" and then scanning the parts and pieces in to create the final paper and stickers.  This is the way I love to design, mix the old (good old hand painting) and the new (digital) to create patterns and adjust color.

Our family LOVES going to the tidepools and beachcombing, I can't wait to use some of the pictures that I took from this trip  or this trip to do some layouts, I used some of the sand dollars we found as inspiration for this line ...

CI Design Team Layouts with FELICITY Collection

This lovely layout was done by our amazing Design Team Coordinator, Cheryl Mezzetti. She is so talented!

And this BEAUTIFUL layout was done by our DT member, Diane DiTullio. I just love this!!

The incredible Design Team has been busy creating scrapbook layouts and paper crafting projects with the new Felicity Collection (as well as with all of Creative Imaginations other brands too, they have a BIG job). We need a ton of samples for catalogs, the booth, the website and for make and takes at the show. It is a lot of work and these guys are awesome! Sadly, because I am so busy just designing the product, often it will be a few months after the show that I finally have a chance to play with the product so the design team is a huge asset to me. I also get the instant gratification of seeing how creatively they use the products. Thanks to them for all their hard work.

Sneak Peek-FELICITY COLLECTION

Here is one of my new scrapbook paper and embellishment collections called FELICITY. This collection will coordinate perfectly with one of my older collections called Blush. It is due to ship in March! Yippee..

The collection is versatile enough to use for wedding, baby girl, birthday or valentines day. I love the sweet color pallete and it is a nice contrast to my other new Spring collection called Tide Pools that has more of a blue/green feel to it. (I will show a peek of Tide Pools after Felicity)

This album is printed with a matt silver foil!

These are sculpted metal brads! I am so excited about this addition to my product line.

Foil printed paper. Imagine all the easy cards you could make just cutting the individual heart squares out and gluing to card stock..

C_20049

another foil printed paper, I think this one might be my favorite!

C_20054

12x12 cardstock stickers! Some of the stickers above were designed to fit on the chipboard sheets I designed right below...

C_200571

the chipboard comes with these two sheets and are so pretty with ink and foil added!

I will post more FELICITY paper and embellishments later this evening as well as some amazing projects that the design team has done...Thanks for coming by!

CHA Chicago

Make_and_take
Here I am doing a make and take project at the Creative Imaginations preview party the night before the CHA show opened. Shown below is the instructions to the make and take I did using my Tea Time collection. This project turned out really cute! Mona, the education coordinator at CI did an amazing job flawlessly coordinating all of the projects that we did with our retailers. She is unbelievable!!

Creative Imaginations had an incredibly successful show and I was so proud to be there with them to witness what a great team they have. These shows make me really grateful to be a part of a company that is so prominent in the industry. The owners of CI treated us to a fabulous dinner at Wild Fire on Friday night, I think there were 35 of us and a lot of laughter and hilarious impersonations being done. Good fun! Below is a photo of some of the artists, art directors and Jack, one of the owners of the company.

I wish I would have taken my camera out more to shoot photos of the booth. I did manage to get this photo of my section showing my new and favorite collection called Winter Garden.

**I am going to wait until Friday to draw a winner of the foil kit and because I am making you wait, I will draw two names instead of one. Keep posting here for a chance to win.***

CHA Sneak Peek-FOILS!! (I am going to give some away, read on......)

Below is an example of some of the fine art work I have done using FOILS.

It is difficult to find foils in beautiful colors such as these. Well it was difficult, until now that is. I am happy to say that these foils will be easily available to you through Creative Imaginations....read on.
Foilpatchwork
As some of you know if you have taken any of my classes, read any of my articles in Somerset Studio, seen my fine art work and even my scrapbook paper lines......you know that I love my foils! The problem up until now has been that I didn't have a source for the crafter to buy these beautiful and unusual colors of foils for themselves. Unfortunately many of the foils on the market are not pretty...they are garish and just not right, often times they have some cheesy holographic pattern on them. I worked diligently with my art director to source GOOD colors and the right glue too. We are going to be debuting the new Foils under the BARE ELEMENTS (BE) line from Creative Imaginations and I cant wait to finally share some of my techniques with you now that I can actually recommend a source for this amazing product.....

There are three color palettes:
OCEAN SPARKLE
C_19431oceanfoilkit_2
SUNSET SPARKLE:
C_19432sunsetfoilkit
EARTH SPARKLE:
C_19433classicfoilkit
and we worked hard to develop just the right glue for you too!
R_194313233gluebottle
Here is a sample of a tag that I put the glue on the edges, let it dry and burnished the foil on. The key to this new foil being the BEST foil available is the sophistication of the color palette and the way I will show you how to use it! Stay tuned to the blog for more fun techniques!
Freshflowerstags
I will be posting and focusing a lot more on this product and techniques of how to use it as the product get closer to shipping. Make sure to ask you LSS to carry it. And if you have any questions or comments feel free to send them my way in the comment section.... I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!

And because I LOVE this product so much, I want to give some away. Send me a comment and after CHA I will pick a name out of a hat and send the lucky winner a sampling of the foil with some double-stick adhesive shapes....xo-Christine
